Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a dedicated and creative pastry chef to join our brand-new cake and pastry establishment in the Orchard area. The ideal candidate for this role is able to create a broad range of baked goods from cookies to cakes, with experience in designing gluten-free and vegan-friendly pastries.

RESPONSIBILITIES FOR PASTRY CHEF

  • Plan, implement and manage daily operations
  • Create and prepare all pastry items as required by the business
  • Design gluten-free and vegan-friendly pastry recipes
  • Come up with recipe ideas from scratch
  • Monitor supplies and ingredients necessary for daily operations
  • Prepare, clean and organize ingredients for use in the kitchen
  • Ensure the kitchen is clean and sanitized at all times
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene and Health and Safety standards
  • Check quality of material and condition of equipment
  • Train, guide and motivate pastry assistants as necessary
  • Supervise and coordinate all pastry and dessert preparation and presentation
  • Carry out administrative duties to maintain an efficient workspace
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma or a certificate in culinary arts or similar relevant field
  • Previous working experience as Pastry Chef
  • Knowledge and experience creating gluten-free and vegan friendly pasty recipes
  • Ability to produce both traditional and contemporary style pastry
  • Excellent knowledge of baking. ingredients and pastry-making techniques
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Great attention to detail and creativity
  • Great interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Must possess a positive and friendly attitude and have the ability to work with a
  • variety of people, including colleagues and customers
