Position Overview
The Guidance Counsellor Intern supports the school’s university guidance and admissions advisory programme by assisting the Guidance Counselling team in delivering high-quality support to students throughout their university application journey.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to international university admissions processes, student advisory work, and counselling operations within an international school environment. Interns will gain practical experience in supporting applications to universities in Singapore, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Australia, and other global destinations.
Outstanding interns may be considered for conversion to a full-time position upon successful completion of the internship, subject to performance and organisational needs. Internship duration and working arrangements can be discussed based on availability and academic commitments.
Key Responsibilities
Student Advisory & Application Support
- Assist Guidance Counsellor Executives in supporting students with university application processes.
- Help students organise application materials including personal statements, resumes/CVs, portfolios, and supporting documents.
- Review basic application drafts and administrative documents under supervision.
- Support tracking of student application progress, deadlines, and admissions requirements.
- Assist in researching university programmes, admissions requirements, and scholarship opportunities.
Administrative & Operational Support
- Maintain accurate student records and application documentation.
- Assist with preparation and organisation of application materials and counselling resources.
- Support coordination of university application timelines and submission processes.
- Assist with data entry and management of application platforms such as UCAS, Common App, and institutional portals where applicable.
- Help prepare reports, spreadsheets, and presentation materials for counselling activities.
Student & Parent Engagement
- Provide administrative and logistical support during workshops, seminars, and university information sessions.
- Respond to basic student and parent enquiries under guidance from the counselling team.
- Assist in preparing communication materials, reminders, and follow-up updates for students and families.
University & Event Support
- Support coordination of university visits, admissions talks, and related events.
- Assist with event logistics, scheduling, registration, and preparation of materials.
- Help maintain updated information on university admissions trends and programme requirements.
Collaboration & Learning Opportunities
- Work closely with Guidance Counsellor Executives and senior counsellors on counselling initiatives and projects.
- Observe counselling sessions and admissions advisory processes where appropriate.
- Gain exposure to international education systems including A-Level, IB, AP, and university admissions frameworks.
- Participate in team discussions and contribute ideas for improving student support processes
Requirements
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Education, Psychology, Counselling, Social Sciences, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace.
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work well with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Preferred Attributes
- Interest in education, student development, counselling, or higher education admissions.
- Familiarity with international education systems or university admissions processes is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Internship Details
- Internship duration and working arrangements are flexible and can be discussed based on the candidate’s availability and academic schedule.
- Full-time and part-time internship arrangements may be considered.
- High-performing interns may be considered for future full-time opportunities within the counselling team.
