Sports & Active Lifestyle Business Development Intern ( 6 months)

The Sports & Active Lifestyle (S&AL) (https://www.nzmp.com/global/en/applications/sports-and-active-nutrition.html) business unit is part of the NZMP ingredients business within the Fonterra Co-operative Group. It is a B2B business that provides nutritional solutions to support health and wellness nutrition brands. We provide the fuel behind some of the largest consumer brands in the world with ingredients such as whey proteins, milk proteins and probiotics.
The Strategic Business Development team within the Sports & Active Lifestyle category is responsible for taking a new, cutting edge approach to informing the business strategy and identifying key opportunities for growth via smart data analytics.
Key Projects:
The Intern role will be instrumental in supporting the business development function in the below areas, with a key focus on driving the below activity in the China market.
Customer Lead Generation
- Apply your knowledge in the China digital landscape to identify relevant data sources for the health and wellness nutrition market
- Leverage technology and analytics to support the discovery of potential customers using new digital data sources such as e-commerce and social media
- Work closely with external data providers to source relevant data whilst also applying your technical skills to build and/or apply tools to capture data directly
- Build deep knowledge of Sports & Active Lifestyle category and understand the B2B business to help add a qualitative overlay to the analytics effort
Market Trends
- Map, understand and analyse different consumer market segments, incl. market sizing, brand share analysis
- Leverage various data sources to validate heath trends, competitors’ activities and consumer demand
- Consolidate collaterals to support the team’s quarterly insights publication
Product Innovation:
- Analyse social media to generate insights and support product innovation
- Scan key useful websites to capture health and nutrition trends
Key Skills & Attitude:
- Students from Business Analytics / Business Administration / Management background – a combination of tech and business skills preferred
- Strong familiarity with social media, platforms, and e-commerce landscape in China required
- Able to speak and write fluent Mandarin and English required
- Prior experience or willingness to pick up scripting languages like R, Python, RPA and analytics tools is a plus
- Strong project management skills with the ability to get things done
- Excellent PowerPoint skills
- Curious mindset & a willingness to learn
- Positive and enthusiastic team player who can collaborate across cultures
- Self-motivated and works well in a fast-paced environment
- Possess excellent communication skills
