Job Description

To support the effective operation, inspection, and maintenance of fire protection systems in customer buildings such as Capitaland and Mapletree.

The Engineering Trainee will learn to ensure that all fire safety equipment and systems function reliably, comply with applicable codes and standards, and contribute to safeguarding people, property, and operations.

Key Learning Opportunities: Technical Skills

  • Assist in the inspection, testing, and maintenance of fire protection systems, including sprinklers, hydrants, pumps, fire alarms, extinguishers, and suppression systems.
  • Learn to identify and report deficiencies in fire safety systems to ensure compliance with national fire codes and company standards.
  • Support the implementation of preventive maintenance schedules and service programs for fire protection equipment.
  • Participate in system monitoring activities to ensure operational readiness at all times.
  • Assist senior technicians and engineers during emergency response and troubleshooting activities.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation and reports on system performance, inspections, and maintenance tasks.
  • Attend training programs, toolbox talks, and practical sessions to develop technical skills in fire protection systems and safety regulations.
  • Promote a safety-first culture by following company procedures and industry best practices.

Key Learning Opportunities: Communication and Customer Service Skills

  • Learn to build professional relationships with building managers and technicians to support safe and secure operations at their facilities.
  • Learn to write professional and effective reports that are necessary for the safe operation of the systems.

Requirements

  • Willingness to learn and complete structured training programs.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, or safety systems is an advantage.
  • Physically fit and able to work at heights, in confined spaces, and during emergency situations.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and strong attention to detail.

Preferred Skills (Advantageous)

  • Experience in technical or maintenance work (internships or vocational training).
  • Basic computer literacy for reporting and documentation.
  • Familiar with SCDF Fire Code.
