Job Description

Science and Lab Teaching Internship (Not for Poly)


What to expect:

  • Sharpen your teaching skills/curriculum planning skills. 
  • Learn skills to teach practical classes to secondary school students.
  • Be exposed to the different types of learning materials and digital aids that can help students learn better. 
  • Get mentorship from senior teachers First-hand & real-world experience to allow interns to be work-force ready. 
  • Full-time job positions are offered to interns who have excelled in their internship.

 

In your teaching role,you will:

  • Sit in for class observation in our senior teacher class and have a review session to learn different classroom management and teaching skills. 
  • Plan, prepare and deliver science practical lessons in accordance with the curriculum. 
  • Prepare the required chemical and lab apparatus for practical classes.
  • Plan, prepare and deliver science theory lessons in accordance with Explorer Academy’s curriculum.
  • Create and maintain a safe and conducive learning environment for students.
  • Establish and maintain good relationships with students and parents
  • any other ad-hoc duties as assigned

 

In your curriculum development role, you will:

  • Design and develop content for our Primary/Secondary Science curriculum.
  • Be exposed to the different types of learning materials and digital aids that can help students learn better.
  • Participate in the brainstorming of science holiday revision programme and work with the marketing team to promote the programme.
  • Support the lab team in developing learning materials.
  • Create questions and write model solutions
  • Create teaching slides and interactive activities
  • Create and upload online learning materials (videos, notes etc) onto student portal platform. 
  • Provide administrative support to the Science Curriculum Unit.

 

Requirements: 

  • Student majoring in science related field. 
  • Able to commit 3-6 months internship.
  • Good Command of Both Written & Verbal English. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills .
  • Organised and have strong attentions to details.
  • Takes ownership and responsibility of tasks given. 
  • Passion for teaching and nurturing young minds.

 

Details 

  • Onsite role based in Singapore
  • 4 Weekdays + 1 Weekend 
  • Weekdays: 1pm to 9pm 
  • Weekend: 9am to 6pm

Mentorship:

  • Weekly classroom observations and review sessions with a mentor to gain insight into what various classroom management techniques are used in class.
  • Teaching practicum with the guidance of a mentor
