Job Description

Dulwich College (Singapore) is seeking a Food Technology Teaching Assistant for August 2022. This is a term time only role. 

The postholder will:

  • develop cookery across the College, using subject expertise to maintain the Cooking Room and ensure it has appropriate resources;
  • promote cookery across the College, building positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. 

The successful candidate will:

  • Plan and lead cooking sessions for children aged 2 to 5 years old;
  • Arrange maintenance of equipment as and when needed;
  • Arrange resources and assist in the teaching of curriculum based cooking activities for all year groups;
  • Plan lessons for WOW days to fixed budget and ensure that the lessons are feasible within the timescale;
  • Design and implement information programmes around healthy lifestyle and nutrition;
  • Set up food requirements for classes and CCAs based on lesson plans;
  • Collate all general orders, and purchasing of ingredients/materials when required;
  • Maintain safe and correct storage of supplies;
  • Ensure hygienic standards are maintained throughout the Cooking Room by carrying out appropriate cleaning of the ovens & hobs as well as equipment;
  • Advise the Director of Business Administration on Health and Safety issues;
  • Be responsible for displays within and outside the Cooking Room;
  • Maintain the booking system for the Cooking Room
  • All other duties commensurate with the post.

Required skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • Diploma or certificate in a relevant subject;
  • Current food hygiene certificate or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in Food Preparation and Hygiene in a commercial or educational setting;
  • Experience of working with students;
  • Good communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships across the College;
  • Experience of ordering and managing the stock control of consumable items;
  • Excellent cooking skills and experience of demonstrating techniques to others.
