Digital Place Ventures Pte Ltd – R&D Intern

Intern will help out the full time staff in at least one of the areas listed:

1. Analysis on our machine learning model. For example, identifying situations in which the machine learning model performs poorly, and if there is a pattern, such as "current version of the model makes very poor predictions for inputs of category X and item values above Y or below Z, we probably should focus our tuning on that data that week”.

2. Improvements on codebase. Actual focus depends on the project state when the intern joins, this can be identifying and solving a performance bottleneck, refactoring some modules, writing tests, or adding documentation

The intern should have:

• Python and basic SQL skills. For Python, the person will work a lot with dataframes.

• Basic knowledge of software engineering and machine learning, such as algorithm complexity and tradeoffs of popular machine learning approaches.

• Basic understanding of how to use version control (like Git): making commits, creating/merging branches

• Basic understanding of an issue tracking systems (like Jira): Creating ticket, updating status

• Preferably some experience working with cloud service provider (GCP, AWS, or others)

• Preferably some understanding of Linux from user POV (not sysadmin POV)

• Ability to communicate with the team in polite and with professional manner
