Cellanome is a biotechnology company developing an automated platform to study individual cell behaviors, interactions, and functions. Our platform aims to provide researchers with the tools to analyze cells at a high resolution and scale, integrating seamlessly into existing cell biology workflows. This allows for a deeper understanding of cell behavior, especially in areas like immunology, oncology, and neurobiology.
Mechanical Engineering Intern (Recent Graduate)
Reporting to the Senior Director, Singapore Engineering and Operations, the Mechanical Engineering Intern will work with Systems, FIT and various hardware and software subject matter experts to qualify our instrument in production before shipment. The engineer Mechanical Engineering Intern will work with the mechanical engineering and fluidics team in US and will be tasked to resolve hardware engineering and performance issues in functional test, application or proxy run in FIT, both internally at Cellanome and at customer sites in the field. This role requires someone with a strong desire to learn and work with complex instrumentation, mechanism, and data analytics.
Essential Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- During NPI and product transfer to production, get involved early to understand the system design architecture of our complex analysis instrument that incorporates cutting edge technologies in optics, fluidics, thermal systems and complex motion systems.
- Collaborate with the US mechanical engineering and fluidics, systems engineering, and system Integration teams on the development of functional test for instrument qualification.
- Support all spects of the product development process including test, integration, characterization and generation of documentation for manufacturing processes such as work instructions and training documents.
- Perform instrument setup, calibration, and final system integration tests in production.
- Support system-level testing and failure analysis of instrument performance issues during NPI prototype and pilot build phases on-site, both in Cellanome factory and contract manufacturer environments to ensure a successful product transfer into stable production.
- Work closely with mechanical, systems, systems integration and other Engineering teams in the US and Singapore to troubleshoot instrument performance issues, both in production and from customers in the field.
- Perform troubleshooting, failure analysis, root cause analysis, issues closure, and corrective action processes as required. Adopt and implement best documentation practices in Jira.
- Apply various analysis techniques, such as FMEA and statistical analysis to optimize product quality and minimize cost, providing all calculations, performance data, and drawings required on new and existing products.
- Manage and coordinate Engineering Change Order implementation activities including scrap analysis, material disposition, update work instructions and test requirement changes.
- Carry out documentation responsibilities include, but not limited to, generating detailed engineering drawings, Bill of Materials, test reports, assembly procedures and design validation plans.
- Establish and maintain databases for instrument failures and issues. Perform data trending analysis, and address yield and quality issues as needed.
- Carry out product sustaining work such as improvements in process and test fixtures, and other process excellence activities to meet the company's production goals.
