Job Description

This 3-month work attachment programme (August – October/November 2023) is designed for Singaporean students from all universities and polytechnics – preferably in journalism, marketing communications, events management, public relations and / or social media and digital specialisations – to gain valuable real-life work experiences and to develop their interdisciplinary skills and competencies. 

This attachment can be full-time or part-time, depending on the student.

Full-time attachment: We are looking for Singaporean students who are available to commit for 3 months (Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm) at a compensation of S$2,646 per month during the traineeship.

Part-time attachment: Part time work preferences are negotiable but with a preference for 3-4 hours every weekday. Students who prefer a part-time work attachment are required to commit at least twice a week (at your choice of days to report on-site) for 3 months at a compensation of S$16.22 per hour during the traineeship.

Fresh graduates with relevant experience, and who are looking for industrial attachment are welcome to apply. 

Please note that the completion of the attachment does not lead to a guaranteed ongoing position with the Australian High Commission. This is a short-term contract only. While leave and medical leave may be taken, this contract does not include leave or medical leave accrual/salary.

Your responsibilities

Working with the Public Affairs Officer, you will be assisting the team on:

  • Content creation for social media – including drafting copy for social media, creating visually-appealing graphics, video editing, photography.
  • Support of events execution and logistics co-ordination with appointed vendors.
  • On-site and off-site photography requests.
  • Other ad-hoc PR activities/events as required.

What we look for

We welcome students with the following capabilities:

  • Inquisitive to learn and research content ideas, with the interest to develop creative skillsets for social media content production, especially for short-form videos and stories.
  • Proficient in content creation tools such as Canva, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, CapCut
  • Proficient in photography and videography.
  • Good communication and presentation skills with an excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Keen interest in International Relations, especially in Australia-Singapore relations
  • Proactive, with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Diligent and problem solving.
  • Available from August - October 2023, candidates that can start earlier are preferred.
