Arts House Limited (AHL) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to enriching lives through the arts. AHL manages two key landmarks located in the heart of Singapore's Civic District -- The Arts House, a multidisciplinary arts centre with a focus on literary programming, and the Victoria Theatre & Victoria Concert Hall, a heritage building that is home to the Singapore Symphony Orchestra. It also runs the Goodman Arts Centre and Aliwal Arts Centre, two creative enclaves for artists, arts groups and creative businesses, and performing arts space Drama Centre. AHL presents the Singapore International Festival of Arts, the annual pinnacle celebration of performance and interdisciplinary arts in Singapore commissioned by the National Arts Council. 

AHL was set up in 11 Dec 2002 as a public company under the National Arts Council and was formerly known as The Old Parliament House Limited. It was officially renamed Arts House Limited on 19 Mar 2014.

Do you have a passion for storytelling and love for the arts?

The Communications team at Arts House Limited (AHL) is seeking a communications intern; who is full of creativity and possess a ‘can-do’ attitude to contribute to our media profiling efforts for SIFA 2021. Organised by Arts House Limited (AHL) and commissioned by the National Arts Council (NAC), the festival makes its return to the stage 14 – 30 May 2021.

Reporting to Head, Communications, the selected candidate will gain practical experience into the inner workings and all rounded view of public relations in the international arts industry. In the five-month internship, the individual will experience and participate first hand; media profiling activities before the festival, during the festival and wrapping up the festival.

Responsibilities

• Support SIFA 2021’s media engagement strategy and execute it in 3 different phases (pre-fest, festival and post-fest)

o Pre-Festival: Work with comms colleagues and agency to plan and execute the media breakfast session with Festival Director for key media to boost engagement. Thereafter, plan the media drop schedule for other media to drum up publicity.

o Festival: To participate in the ideation and curation of engaging content ranging from media angles to drafting of press releases and responses to media queries whenever required.

o Post-Festival: To take stock of first-time media reports during the festival and compile a list of these new media contacts. This will aid in the organic building of relationships with a wider group of media platforms.

• Following on the last point, to take stock, build and update existing media lists and databases for all other AHL events. The individual will also have hands-on experience on using our subscribed media database to aid in their professional development.

• To assist Head, Communications in the area of copywriting for other projects and tasks during the internship tenure.

Requirements

• Current enrolment in a related Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Communications course 

• Strong desire to learn and with passion for the arts

• Excellent presentation and written communication skills

• Proficient in using MS Office
