Job Description

Event Manager/Assistant Manager

As 1880’s Events Manager / Assistant Manager, you’ll get to organise and manage a plethora of events from conception to completion such as private celebrations, corporate dinners, wine tastings, themed parties, film screenings, and talks. If you’re quick-thinking, organised, creative, personable, and supportive, read on:

You’ll be involved in the exciting bits and the background hard work:

  • Bringing events to life by working collaboratively with other 1880, specifically Operations and F&B
  • Developing and coordinating private and corporate hire events for the club and 1880’s boat hire
  • Maintaining standards of practice for the booking systems, invoice systems, and other processes
  • Proposing trends, technology, and leading innovations for new event formats (including digital) and collaborating with the team on themes and installations for big events like Halloween and Chinese New Year
  • Having strong organisational presence during these events
  • Developing and managing proposals and budgets for clients and work with senior team members to create detailed budgets for larger scale events

Ideally, you have:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a similar role you’re flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends. (The general working days are Monday to Friday)
  • Proficient event planning experience and excellent client management skills
  • Great energy and love working in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining composure in stressful situations
  • The unusually perfect balance of being creative and having strong organisational and management skills
  • The ability to influence and interact at all levels to establish productive relationships with colleagues, brands, agency teams, and suppliers
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current and future trends, ensuring events remain appealing and competitive
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
