Job Description

About the role:

We are looking for a hands-on and reliable Chemistry Laboratory Intern to support our chemistry team with the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.

This is a practical, laboratory-based role focused primarily on preparing materials and equipment, supporting experiments, maintaining laboratory organization, and carrying out routine laboratory activities. The role is well suited to someone who enjoys practical work and is interested in gaining experience in a professional chemistry laboratory.

A university degree is not required. Candidates with relevant technical, polytechnic, ITE, vocational, or laboratory experience are encouraged to apply. Training will be provided for the specific activities required.

The internship provides practical experience working alongside professional chemists in an active R&D laboratory. You will develop hands-on laboratory skills, learn appropriate chemical handling and safety practices, and gain exposure to modern chemistry and laboratory automation workflows.

Internship Duration: 3 months, with potential for permanent employment.

We are looking for someone to join our chemistry team for an initial 3-month internship. For a strong performer who enjoys the role and is a good fit with the team, there may be an opportunity to transition into a permanent, full-time Laboratory Technician position.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support chemists with the preparation and setup of laboratory experiments.
  • Prepare, label, organize, and distribute chemicals, reagents, solvents, samples, and laboratory consumables.
  • Perform routine laboratory activities according to established procedures and under appropriate supervision.
  • Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory glassware and equipment.
  • Assist with weighing, measuring, transferring, and preparing chemicals and solutions.
  • Support sample preparation and handling activities.
  • Monitor and replenish laboratory consumables and supplies.
  • Receive, unpack, label, and store laboratory materials appropriately.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory work areas.
  • Assist with chemical inventory management and laboratory stock checks.
  • Support the collection, segregation, and disposal of laboratory waste in accordance with established procedures.
  • Record laboratory activities and maintain basic documentation as required.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, SOPs, and company policies at all times.
  • Provide general practical support to the chemistry team and assist with other laboratory activities as required.

Necessary qualifications and qualities:

  • No university degree required.
  • Relevant ITE, polytechnic, vocational, technical, or laboratory training would be an preferred.
  • Comfortable performing hands-on and repetitive practical laboratory work.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow written procedures accurately.
  • Reliable, organized, and willing to learn.
  • Able to work safely and responsibly with chemicals and laboratory equipment following appropriate training.
  • Comfortable working as part of a laboratory team.
  • Basic computer skills for recording information and maintaining laboratory records.

Desirable:

  • Previous laboratory, manufacturing, technical, or other hands-on working experience.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory equipment or chemical handling.
  • Interest in chemistry, laboratory automation, pharmaceutical R&D, or scientific technology.
