Singapore Art Museum opened in 1996 as the first art museum in Singapore. Also known as SAM, we present contemporary art from a Southeast Asian perspective for artists, art lovers and the art curious in multiple venues across the island, including in the historic port area of Tanjong Pagar.

Job Description

As an intern with the Production Management team, you will support the planning, coordination, and execution of SAM’s exhibitions and projects. This role involves a mix of hands-on and administrative work, ranging from artwork care and maintenance to exhibition logistics and documentation. You will gain exposure to a wide range of contemporary art presentations, including artworks that incorporate unconventional materials.

Intern Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of and assist in the various aspects of production management at SAM

• Assist with the preparation of upcoming exhibitions, including logistics planning leading up to installation, exhibition maintenance, troubleshooting of artworks, and post-exhibition reviews and archival documentation

• Collate artwork information and technical requirements from artists and research/source materials as required (project-dependent)

• Support administrative processes such as file organisation and management, timeline planning, preparation of procurement and contractual documents, and payment-related documentation

• Research and identify production management-related issues with new and innovative forms of contemporary art and exhibition presentations, including online platforms, VR, AR, and MR, etc.

• Perform other ad-hoc tasks related to production management as assigned

Requirements

• Available to commit full-time (Monday to Friday) for a minimum of 3 months (up to 6 months), starting from May/Jun

• Currently pursuing or a recent graduate from Arts, Design & Project Management background are preferred but not limited

• Strong interest in the museum and arts field

• Able and willing to perform the responsibilities outlined above

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• Good communication skills and a proactive attitude
