Job Description

Video Editor

  • Understand brief, story outline/or a short list, script, provided by producer/director;
  • Assembling all raw footage, either recorded or transferred onto video tape, audio files, pictures, in preparation for importing into editing station;
  • Importing all projects files, name and store these files in proper order and synchronise audio if necessary;
  • Digitally edit the files and creatively put together the sequence of the film and deciding what is usable;
  • Creating a 'rough cut' (or assembly edit) of the video that entails good story telling, mood and makes visual sense;
  • Reordering and fine-tune edit for final delivery.


Camera Operator

  • Understanding briefs and script provided by producer/director;
  • Assembling, prepare and set up equipment prior to shoot, which may include tripods, monitors, lighting, cables and audio equipment etc..;
  • Offering suggestion on how best shoot a scene and explaining the visual impact created by particular shots;
  • Finding solutions or have backup plans to technical or other practical problems (for an outside broadcast, for example, the natural light and weather conditions need to be taken into account when setting up shots);
  • Be prepared to innovate and experiment with new ideas;
  • Working quickly and efficiently to meet tight production schedule;
  • Taking sole responsibility, behave and dress appropriately in situations where only one camera operator is involved in the filming;
  • Keeping up to date with filming methods and equipment;
  • Repairing and maintain equipment. Store, label and organise them;
  • Demonstrating good awareness of personal and public's health and safety issues;
