SPH Media Limited – Intern Journalist

The scope of responsibilities includes the following:

As an intern journalist for Tamil Murasu, you will be working with the Tamil Murasu editorial team. You will gather news, research, work on and write stories. Apart from print, you will also contribute towards online platforms, producing video reports and picture galleries for the digital platforms.

Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate Degree, Diploma (Journalism or communication-related courses)

Required Skills and Knowledge: 

• Proficiency in Tamil: Strong command of both written and spoken Tamil to effectively gather, write, and edit content.

• Journalistic Skills: Basic understanding of news writing, reporting, and research techniques. Ability to craft clear, engaging, and accurate stories.

• Digital Media Acumen: Familiarity with online content trends and mobile content strategies, including an understanding of how to engage audiences through digital platforms.

• Multimedia Abilities: Basic skills in video shooting and editing, as well as web content management, to contribute to multimedia content such as video reports and photo galleries.

• Communication Skills: Comfort in interacting with a diverse range of people, including sources, colleagues, and the public, to gather information and conduct interviews.

• Adaptability and Learning Attitude: A positive attitude towards learning and adaptability to the fast-paced nature of the media industry.

• Technical Proficiency: Basic knowledge of content management systems (CMS) and social media platforms to assist in content distribution and audience engagement.

Requirements:

• Individuals who are effectively bilingual and proficient in Tamil

• Good news sense with a good understanding of online and current trends in mobile content

• Knowledge in basic video taking/editing and web content management is a plus

• Comfortable in interacting with a range of people and organization

• A positive attitude to learning
