Job description of Retail Assistant

 

Job title: Retail Assistant Department: Retail and Sales

Job purpose: To assist customers with product enquiries and purchasing of merchandise

Report to: Franchise Manager

Industry Focus: Commercial based - Education and Lifestyle

Working Hours: 5 days work week but require to work one weekend (1100am - 700pm)

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets and interacts with customers
  • Consults with customers to understand their needs
  • Demonstrates and explain merchandise and products, selecting and suggesting options for the customers
  • Answer customers' questions and assist with purchases
  • Retrieves merchandise from sales floor, stock room or other inventory locations; places special orders
  • Collects payment using the POS system
  • Processes returns and exchanges upon Mgmt approval
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent active listening skills
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills
  • Extension knowledge of merchandise sold
  • Ability to anticipate customers needs
  • Ability to recommend merchandise and solutions to customers
  • Ability to operate or to quickly learn the stores POS system

 

Experience

  • Previous retail experience preferred
  • On-the-job training provided
