Established in 1966, the General Insurance Association of Singapore (GIA) is working to make all aspects of insurance easier and more effective for consumers, agents and insurance companies in Singapore.

As a Trade Association, GIA's role is to be active in the business community representing the interests of its member companies. GIA helps identify emerging trends and responds to issues affecting the General Insurance industry. It seeks to promote the overall growth and development of the General Insurance sector in Singapore.

GIA encompasses all non-life insurance companies transacting business in Singapore. We are also constantly in the process of improving and achieving our mission and structure to ensure that it continues to meet the business needs of its member companies.

The GIA Internship Programme is a unique programme customized to University students from various disciplines. Interns can expect to gain first-hand insights into the work culture, business environment and daily operations of the participating host company.

With the successful launch of the program in 2008, GIP is now into its 10th year and is open for application. Working under the guidance of dynamic leaders, each intern will be assigned to a mentor in various job functions. Interns will also attend workshops, social networking events, seminars, conferences and meetings covering a wide range of general insurance job profile such as in Actuarial, Underwriting, Risk Management, Claims and Business Development etc.

Job Description

Project Based:

  • Building of web-based UI to allow users to control data warehouse jobs, with different users having different access levels for security and control flow.
  • Building of a web-based UI to facilitate data entry into date warehouse outside of the organisations’ normal channels, which will also involve security and data validation measures.
  • Supporting of IT Shared Services

The intern will play a role in the design, development, testing and delivery of both projects.

The intern will report to Head of Department with matrix reporting to mentor/supervisor.

Interns from local Universities preferred.
