Era Dance Theatre Limited – Web Designer / Videographer / Photographer

ERA DANCE THEATRE LIMITED (EDT) was incorporated on 13th May 2009 as a company limited by guarantee. The company is spear headed by Artistic Director, Mr. Osman Abdul Hamid and Executive Director, Mr. Azrin Abdul Rahim.

In 1992, Osman began to spread his wings in the Malay dance community by forming his own Malay dance group, Teater Tari Era. Under Osman’s tutelage, the group consistently managed to raise the bar with energetic and synchronised dance performances. Azrin on the other hand was a performing-arts reviewer, in the mid-80s, who actively contributed to the Straits Times Bilingual Section. In 1989, Azrin set up his own events company and worked with major ethnic arts groups to produce multi cultural productions at major venues in Singapore. EDT propagates the development of traditional, creative and contemporary Malay dance and music.

Our core programmes include:

1. Kacip Mas Dulang Permata – aims to develop EDT’s choreographers

2. Akar Subur - our industry development programme

3. Wujud - showcasing Osman Hamid’s new works

4. Muara Festival - local and regional showcase of the best of Tarian (Malay dance)

Today, EDT is a registered charity organisation that seeks new challenges and opportunities while remaining rooted to our culture and traditions. We are also a recipient of the National Arts Council's Major Grant for the period from 1 April 2016 to 31 March 2019.
