Company Profile

Entrepreneur First is Europe and Asia's leading pre-seed deep tech investor. Supported by Infocomm Investments, we just launched our first programme in Singapore in September 2016.

We help the world's most ambitious computer scientists and engineers build companies from scratch. We invest in you even before you have a co-founder or fixed idea. EF has an intensive 6-month programme that is designed to give you the best possible support in the first 6 months of your startup’s life. We've helped 400 top technical individuals in the world build over 100 world-class technology startups, now collectively valued at over S$1 billion.

Job Description

Are you an ambitious graduate seeking experience in a global company? How would you like to meet the next generation of founders and watch them build world-class technology startups from scratch? If you're excited, and looking to get more experience working with startups, then Entrepreneur First is the perfect place for you.

Entrepreneur First is responsible for finding and cultivating Singapore’s best technical talent, and we want your help! Assist us in attracting the world’s most ambitious computer scientists and engineers from renowned companies like Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Deepmind, and Goldman Sachs. Get exposed to one of the fastest growing networks in the Singapore startup scene, and be a part of a rare opportunity to see how high-growth startups are built from scratch (even before they have a team or a fixed idea)!

What You Will Learn

  • Get a unique and in-depth insight into what makes great founders, what drives the early stage of deep tech companies and how venture capital works. Be prepared for either building your own startup in the future or working for one.
  • Your development matters to EF. Get training, mentoring and feedback from the beginning of your internship. They will help draw out this development from the start, then adapt it along the way if necessary.
  • Get to meet and work with all relevant parties involved in commercializing research from up-and-coming fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and laser communications. EF has a very large, credible network who they’d be willing to introduce you to. This includes some of the world’s top startup founders, investors, and officials.

Your Task

As part of the founding team in Singapore, you’ll be responsible from day one. One day you’ll work with Singapore’s most prominent founders and investors, with cutting-edge technology, but another day you, along with the entire team, will have to collect cans after an event. There is very little hierarchy, and you are encouraged to work on projects that you find exciting. You'll be a part of our Talent Team, who are responsible for finding and selecting the top technical talent here in Singapore to join our programme. In general, your responsibilities include:

  • Sourcing: You'll be looking for the top technical talent here in Asia that could be a great fit for our programme. This is often carried out through community and recruitment events, networking, cold-emailing, and online marketing.
  • Research: The research that you do will help shape our recruitment strategy. You'll be looking for ways to optimize how we find the top technical individuals who have the potential to be the next Mark Zuckerberg or Elon Musk. You'll also be aiding in the management of our talent pipeline, and doing analysis on the talent team's data and metrics from previous participants.
  • Event Management: EF runs a lot of interviews, dinners and events for the most promising founders, and you’ll be responsible for everything from invitations to ensuring the day runs smoothly. Liaise with speakers and venues, and take responsibility for marketing. You'll get the opportunity to sit in on these interviews and events, to find out what great founders look like, and meet the next generation of founders.
  • Operations and Admin: Support the EF team in our day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • No background specification required.
  • An ambitious current student or graduate.
  • An interest in technology and startups essential
  • Comfortable with basic data science.
  • Comfortable putting a structure in the messy operation that is an early stage fund.
  • Able to get things done and actively seek ownership
  • Full time opportunities may be available post-internship.
