According to citation analyses, the M&O Department at the NUS Business School is one of the best in Asia Pacific. With a staff strength of around 30, the department offers a variety of courses in organisational behaviour and management, and human resource management through undergraduate, graduate and executive training programs.
Specific areas of research cover organizational behaviour – behaviour, feelings, motivation, and performance of individuals within organizations, and how effective and healthy organizations evolve. Three aspects are of particular importance:

You will be part of a group of researchers examining the communication and teamwork processes of emergency response teams operating in the hospital. Reporting to the principal investigator, you will play a critical role in the data collection phase of our study. Specifically, your role may encompass the following:
- Observing emergency-trained doctors and other medical staff in action during their routine duties, and possibly under emergency response conditions.
- Interviewing these doctors and medical staff on communication and behavioral aspects of their work.
- Coding the observational/interview data in accordance to a coding guide.
- Handling and coding supplemental video-based data.
This position is suited to an energetic, resilient individual who is comfortable around people, while at the same time being a matured, independent and meticulous worker in collating and organizing information. S/he should not be averse to witnessing hospital patients being treated for critical injuries and illnesses.
The successful candidate will need to sign a strict confidentiality agreement with the hospital.
Job Requirements:
- Applicants should preferably be students from the Social Sciences, who possess a general understanding of qualitative research.
- Bilingual and/or knowledge of local dialects would be a plus.
- Be generally confident in handling databases and also simple audio-visual recording equipment.
Internship allowance: Up to $1,000 per month
