The story of CarPal starts with its Founder/CEO, Mr. Maarten Hemmes. An innovator and entrepreneur at heart, Maarten launched his first startup in legal technology at the tender age of 22 in the Netherlands. Maarten also has over 10 years of software development experience through his own IT company serving clients in Europe, U.S. and South East Asia. Inspired by the uberization of services and recognising the rising demand in last-mile logistics in South East Asia, Maarten launched CarPal in July 2014, as well as a spin-off pet transportation app “PetMate” in October 2015.
CarPal is transforming the way local goods move around in cities by enabling anyone to get any product delivered within an hour. Through its revolutionary urban logistics & on-demand delivery platform, businesses and consumers can connect real-time with local couriers, who deliver goods or run errands on their behalves anywhere in a city.
Since launch, CarPal has been met with immediate success and exponential growth. CarPal is currently serving hundreds of corporate customers across different industries as well as thousands of consumers in Singapore. It has closed a pre Series-A funding of S$1M in January 2016, and currently expanding to multiple locations in SEA as well as internationally.

YOUR TASKS
As a Business Development Intern, your key task is to work closely with our Business Development Manager to test and explore some of CarPal's new business initiatives. Some of your tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:
- RESEARCH: conducting relevant research, gathering data on current demand/supply, key players, potential customers, etc.
- OUTREACH: reaching out to potential partners and customers to better understand and identify the demand of the service provided (e.g. calls, emails, face-to-face meetings, etc.)
- STRATEGY: determining the viability of these new initiatives and developing the overall strategy for marketing and sales purposes
- COLLABORATE: working closely with the management team to structure and fine-tune your research and outreach throughout the entire process
- PRESENT: presenting your research findings on a weekly basis to CarPal's management team
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be residing and able to work in Singapore (you may apply for Work Holiday Pass if needed)
- Fluency in English is required; fluency in a second language is a definite plus!
- Ability to work independently as well as cohesively in a team environment
- Open and transparent style of communication and collaboration
- Excellent communication, writing and editing skills
- Strong organizational/project management skills with attention to details; ability to prioritize and adapt in response to feedback
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Drive preferred
