The Corporate Communications (CC) division at A*STAR plays a pivotal role in highlighting the organisation's R&D collaborations and successes, ensuring its continued prominence in a rapidly evolving media landscape. We strive to communicate how our discoveries translate into tangible benefits for the public, industry, and scientific community, employing a dynamic, multi-channel approach.

We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic, and creative individual to join our team, contributing to the production of social media videos that effectively showcase A*STAR's innovative research and impactful contributions, as well as our people and culture. This role will involve creating compelling video content, including, but not limited to, conceptualising, producing, filming, and editing for short videos on TikTok and Instagram, targeting the younger demographics. The candidate should be proficient in understanding TikTok and Instagram, possess a keen interest in science and tech, and be creative in communicating science to the public.

The selected candidate will demonstrate a strong passion for social media, video production, and a deep understanding of visual communications design, with a passion for maintaining consistent design and branding across all video content tailored to diverse target audiences, including Gen Z. The selected candidate will showcase a strong skill set in interpreting briefs, proposing new creative and trendy video concepts, and demonstrating creative flair, effective communication, proactivity, adaptability to dynamic environments, problem-solving aptitude, and meticulous attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Propose creative and trendy concepts for short videos on TikTok and Instagram.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in understanding TikTok and Instagram and staying updated with social media trends.
  • Work with our researchers to film and direct engaging video content.
  • Edit videos for different social media platforms quickly and efficiently.
  • Ensure the produced content is comprehensible to layman Singaporean target audiences.
  • Contribute to A*STAR's employer branding by communicating A*STAR’s science and technology to younger audiences.
  • Support other digital communications projects and initiatives.

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Proficiency in using video editing tools, including but not limited to Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, CapCut and Canva.
  • Experience in storyboarding, filming, and editing, with a portfolio showcasing previous projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of social media platforms, particularly TikTok and Instagram.
  • Interest in science and technology, with the ability to simplify complex scientific information for a layman audience.
  • Strong creative flair, effective communication skills, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment, adhere to deadlines and embrace feedback.
  • Familiarity with other design and video software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) is advantageous.
