Company Profile

The Singapore Red Cross is a homegrown humanitarian organisation, dedicated to relieving human suffering, protecting lives and dignity and responding to emergencies since 1949. We serve the vulnerable through our blood donor recruitment programme, home and day activity centre for the disabled, elder aid, transport aid, family life aid, community health on wheels and community first aid. We build capacity and resilience through our training academy, and volunteer and youth development. Beyond our shores, we mobilise and translate contributions from the donor community to relief and recovery, rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, with the aim of helping communities affected by disasters.

Job Description

Background
The Singapore Red Cross’s (SRC’s) Blood Donor Programme (BDP) works in partnership with the Health Sciences Authority’s Blood Services Group (BSG) to educate, recruit, retain, and recognise blood donors as part of our role as the National Blood Programme’s national recruiter.
With blood donors currently making up less than 2% of Singapore’s residential population, there is an ongoing need to build a sustainable donor pool towards ensuring a healthy and constant supply of safeblood at all times.

To that end, BDP’s mission is aligned with the following objectives:

● Educate the general public on the importance of blood donation towards converting and recruiting eligible new donors
● Ensuring new and first-time donors are retained and converted to regular donors
● Recognising regular and champion blood donors and, in turn, inspiring and retaining a new generation of blood donors
● Engage and recruit youths to actively participate in and advocate for blood donation.
● Building a supportive network of youth volunteers and donors for long-term involvement in blood donation through campaigns and events.

You will play a vital role in supporting the Blood Donor Programme marketing team by developing and executing campaigns, events, and initiatives with opportunities to contribute creatively to storytelling, social media strategy, and public engagement. At the end of the internship, you will understand how strategic marketing supports community engagement, donor relations, and public awareness in the social service sector while gaining experience in end-to-end marketing processes.

Responsibilities:
● Work closely with BDP’s various key partners, agencies, vendors and external & internal stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met
● Support coordination and execution of BDP’s events and activation campaigns mainly World Blood Donor Day 2026
● Assist in brainstorming, planning, and executing marketing campaigns and deliverables across various channels such as social media, email marketing, and digital advertising to promote blood donation awareness, retention and recognition
● Conceptualize and create engaging Gen Z-oriented digital content for various social media channels (e.g. TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, Telegram, Lemon8) including trendjacking content, short-form videos using tools such as Canva and CapCut
● Support in managing and engaging with the online community across HeyBloodBuddy’s social media platforms by producing marketing materials (e.g., articles, blog posts, vlogs, and visual content) to drive conversations around blood donation
● Assist in creating, proofreading and updating marketing collaterals and website content
● Support in research of youth engagement trends and propose creative ideas to reach younger audiences
● Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and other departments to provide marketing support and strategic input
● Any ad hoc marketing operations and administrative work when necessary

Requirements:
● Currently pursuing a diploma or degree in Marketing/Mass Communications/Business Administration or a related discipline (also open to graduates/career switchers or individuals looking for internship experience)
● Excellent written and spoken English and a 2nd language (Mandarin, Malay or Tamil) is a plus
● Excellent computer literacy; in the use of Microsoft Office and Google workspace applications
● Prior experience in marketing communications / social media management / event coordination preferred.
● Experience with photo/video editing software, designing and content creation tools like Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Canva, Lightroom and CapCut is a plus
● Enthusiastic about digital marketing, content creation, and applying marketing and communications concepts within a non-profit and community context.
● Works well independently and a team player
● Possess good project and time management, organisation and communication skills
● Creative thinker with attention to detail, good communication and interpersonal skills
● Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn, responsible and adopts a proactive approach to every aspect of work to ensure responsibilities are carried out efficiently
● Commitment period of 3 - 6 months
