The R&D Intern will support the design, development, and testing of drone-based dry cleaning solutions for solar panels, with a strong focus on waterless cleaning technologies such as robotic brushing, air-assisted dust removal, and contact-based cleaning mechanisms. This role offers hands-on exposure to UAV systems, robotics, and sustainable solar O&M technologies.
- Key Responsibilities
- Assist in development of drone-based dry cleaning mechanisms for solar panels (robotic brushes, rollers, air-blowers, soft contact tools)
- Support mechanical design and prototyping of lightweight, non-damaging cleaning attachments
- Assist in integration of dry cleaning systems with drones, focusing on payload balance, vibration, and flight stability
- Support testing and optimisation of dust removal efficiency without water usage
- Participate in field trials on rooftop, ground-mounted, and floating solar installations
- Evaluate panel surface safety, abrasion risk, and long-term impact of dry cleaning
- Assist in performance benchmarking against manual and wet cleaning methods
- Support technical documentation, test reports, and SOPs
- Collaborate with senior engineers on iterative design improvements
- Required Skills & Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree/diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
- Basic understanding of drone / UAV platforms
- Strong interest in mechanical systems, robotics, and waterless cleaning technologies
- Comfortable with hands-on prototyping and field testing
