Launched in September 1993 by Singapore’s Ambassador-at-Large and VSA Patron, Professor Tommy Koh, Very Special Arts Singapore is a local charity organisation dedicated to providing opportunities for people with disabilities to be involved in the arts. For the past 25 years, VSA Singapore has been running successful art programmes, workshops, competitions and art exhibitions for the special needs community, creating awareness among members of the public of their immense talent and resilience.

Through our programmes, we:

  1. Promote the educational, social, rehabilitative and therapeutic benefits of visual, performing and literary arts;

  2. Integrate individuals with disabilities into mainstream society through the arts; and

  3. Assist them in obtaining financial independence through arts and arts-creation.

Job Description

Internship Opportunity with Very Special Arts Singapore

As an intern in the Performing Arts programmes team, you will be required to work on the following:

a. Managing volunteers and logistical support for performing arts classes, annual productions, and ad-hoc gigs;
b. Admin work for performing arts classes such as the collection of fees for term classes;
c. Other related work, such as publicity and marketing for productions.

The ideal candidate should:

1. Demonstrate a track record of arts education (such as involvement in a performing arts CCA in school), or show an appreciation of performing art forms (dance, music, theatre);

2. Have good communication skills (not limited to written and spoken language - sign language is a useful communication method);

3. Have experience in video editing and graphic design;

4. Have experience working with people with disabilities;

5. Be caring, open-minded, and willing to go the extra mile.

For this position, the minimum educational qualification is a Diploma in any discipline.
