JOB PURPOSE
To plan, manage and effectively implement overseas humanitarian events and projects undertaken by the International Services Department of Singapore Red Cross Society.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Operations:
- Monitor and track the progress of various overseas reconstruction projects undertaken by Society;
- Being in charge of specific Countries and Regions, monitor the assigned and alert the Management of developing emergencies/ disasters;
- Hosting of conferences and meetings in Singapore for foreign participants ;
- Facilitation of requests for overseas study visits to National Societies and/ or the IFRC and ICRC (including visits to Singapore Red Cross by external visitors);
- Respond to public enquiries relating to the work of International Services;
- Assist in the drafting of Department reports and budgets.
Stakeholder Management (International Relations):
- Liaison with IFRC/ ICRC/ National Societies/ other like-minded international organizations and regional bodies in the implementation of projects;
- Regular correspondence and liaising with the IFRC/ ICRC concerning areas of interest on international appeals and other critical humanitarian matters;
- Liaise or work with internal staff for common projects or other matters;
- Help to host foreign visitors during their stay in Singapore.
Overseas Humanitarian Activities:
- Upkeep the recruitment and training of volunteers for ready deployment for overseas humanitarian activity or in the event of disaster;
- In the event of disaster, management of the deployment of volunteers;
- Keep abreast on news and updates relating to disasters around the world.
Other Duties:
- Arrange courtesy calls or meetings;
- Undertake any other duties as assigned.
JOB SPECIFICATION
Experience and Expectations
- Fresh grads and students from polytechnics or universities are welcome
- Passionate about humanitarian work and interested in the work of the Red Cross Movement
- Candidate is expected to travel on occasion in order to successfully manage projects and events
- Would be ok traveling to harsh conditions, can work in different cultures
- Experienced in overseas community programmes preferred.
Skills and Knowledge
- Possess good understanding of the geo-political relations of the world and cross-cultural sensitivity;
- Possess excellent communication skills (written & verbal) with good command of English;
- Good presentation and report writing skills;
- Possess High analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Good interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate well to people of all levels;
- Able to work Independently as well as being a good team player;
- Resourceful and initiative;
- Good with computer programs like MS Office and Googledoc Apps.
