SHATEC was set up in 1983 by the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA) to ensure a continuous pipeline of talents for Singapore’s hospitality industry. SHA, which is the apex body for hotels in Singapore since 1961, embodies membership of 160 hotel entities today, accounting for some 80% of total gazetted room count.
A school for the industry by the industry, SHATEC has made its mark as a premium hospitality school with many of its graduates holding key positions in the hospitality and tourism industry all over the world. Today, SHATEC graduates continue to shine and are much sought after by the industry.
We are seeking a passionate and energetic Data Scientist (the Intern) to be part of our friendly hospitality and tourism school.
As part of the team you will be given opportunities to work on our data analytics and resource planning project, as well as to drive initiatives to create/enhance the vibrancy of the scheduling and resource planning system.
What you will be learning/doing?
You will learn and support the team in the following tasks:
- Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses of the existing data to generate actionable insights
- Design and develop data analytics procedures to support the school's existing resource planning activities
- Initiates a new or improved resource planning software
- Conduct system/software testing with other departmental key stakeholder
- Conduct trainings for the relevant staff if needed
Who are you:
- Final year student of BA/BS Degree (Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology/System and Engineering majors preferred)
- Passionate in data analytics and technology for business innovation
- Driven, inquisitive and self-motivated
- Detail-oriented and strong in analytical skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills
