About the Role

At Polymerize, we provide materials informatics software for materials companies to accelerate their product development and efficiently manage data while bringing operational efficiency and AI-driven material innovation to their R&D. We work at the intersection of AI and materials science and use our years of material research & experience background.

Polymerize is looking for a Junior Product Designer to join Polymerize's Design team to support our Product team's ongoing effort to accelerate the growth of the company.

As a Junior Product Designer, you will collaborate across multiple functions to deliver prototypes and rapidly design solutions to solve user problems, as well as move the needle with our design system initiatives. This is a role that demands an appetite for leadership and a willingness for risk-taking, as we are intending to nurture you as a Junior Product Designer to eventually helm the design team and lead UX direction in the organisation.

This role is open to candidates in Singapore.

What we need you to do

  • Design user flows and solutions of given problem statements, jobs-to-be-done (JTBD), and translating product requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and UI artefacts
  • UI/UX design with well-established design systems across desktop and mobile devices
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, marketers, and the executive team to take products from concept to delivery
  • Identify new improvements for current product features
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end implementation process with product owners and engineers
  • Test features and the end-product to ensure it is consistent and ready for release
  • Establishing product and design metrics to track and developing initiatives to improve on said metrics
  • Taking ownership of OKRs and leading initiatives of said OKRs
  • Contribute to the user research pipeline and outline strategy, framework, and process
  • Establish and promote design guidelines, best practices, and be a core driver in our design system initiative
  • Lead the strategy to grow a design team and mentor interns to reach their maximum potential and do their best work

What we need you to be

  • Bachelor's Degree from a recognized university, majors in Industrial Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, Psychology, Communication Design, Mass Communications or related is preferred
  • A strong portfolio of distinctive and relevant digital product experience design is preferred
  • At least 1 year of experience in crafting prototypes, wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows, and sitemaps
  • Strong competency in rapid prototyping tools and wireframing tools, preferably Figma
  • Some experience with establishing a design system or working with an establishing design system like Ant Design, Chakra UI is preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional team members
  • Ability to effectively communicate design decisions to stakeholders with logic and empathy
  • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated with a natural tendency to take initiative or leadership
  • Some degree of experience or exposure to deeptech and/or material sciences is a plus
  • Some experience with agile management or working in a startup is a plus
