Team information
Transform Singapore into a Giving Nation through developing insights to inspire action via meaningful, impact-driven research. We seek motivated candidates with the passion to make this happen, where the ability to make a difference at national level is a reward in itself, with meaningful work at the intersection of non-profit, public and private sectors.
You will be supporting the Knowledge and Insights team with national-level research on the giving landscape, volunteerism, philanthropy and other forms of giving. You will be involved in both qualitative and quantitative research projects. Areas of work includes interviewing of stakeholders and analysing of data and trends to inform and influence key stakeholders.
For this internship, the intern will be involved in NVPC’s Ground Up Movement Study 2021 to help formalise understanding of what are ground up movements (GUMs), how many are there, who are they and how effective are ground up movements. The goal of this study is to develop an understanding and actionable insights for grant and policymakers on the landscape GUMs, their effectiveness, and strategies to support their growth

NVPC Ground Up Movement Study (GUMS) Study 2021
The study aims to fill a knowledge gap by synthesising existing literature as well as generating new primary data via qualitative and quantitative research methods to derive:
- A common understanding of Ground Up Movement
- The motivation for people to start a Ground Up Movement
- Understand landscape
- Value of ground up movements in the giving ecosystem
- Interventions that might hinder or support Ground Up Movements

- A look inside the workings of a research team at a National Centre.
Responsibilities
- Conduct secondary research, literature reviews and/or policy reviews on Ground Up Movements globally and in Singapore
- Support the implementation of interviews and fieldwork (either in-house, or through market research agency)
- Data cleaning, analysis and interpretation of qualitative data
- Developing reports to make recommendations for internal and external audiences to inform strategy and enhance practices
Requirements
- Penultimate or Final Year students in Psychology, Sociology, Political Science, History, Economics, Business or other related fields.
- Have extensive primary and secondary research experience (those with academic publication is preferred).
- Proficient in NVivo or other research software.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Curiosity and interest in analysing qualitative data to draw insights.
- Ability to sense-making and draw lateral connection across a large volume of data.
- A keen interest in social issues and/or non-profit space.
- Meticulous and detail-oriented.
- Self-starter, independent, possesses a high degree of discipline and commitment.
