R&I Research (Pigmentation) Intern

During your internship, you will get involved with the inner workings of a successful, market-leading Beauty company, as you collaborate and learn from some of the most passionate, intelligent and creative people. Internship Period: Jul 2019 – Jan 2020 (6 months)

How can you contribute?

Have you always aspired to be a researcher for beauty brands? Do you love experimenting with the unknown? Are you passionate about lab work? 

We are looking to hire a Lab Research (Pigmentation) Intern for our Research & Innovation team (R&I) based in Singapore's international research and development centre for biomedical sciences, Biopolis.

Skin being the largest barrier organ of the human body, is the first line of defense to protect the body from environmental insults. You will be required to work on a project that combines cell biology, biochemical and immunological knowledge to address fundamental questions about skin responses to environment stressors using in-vitro cell-based assays to investigate underlying mechanisms of skin diseases.

Key responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory experiments, data analysis and data presentation
  • Writing scientific reports and do meticulous note and record-keeping
  • Work on laboratory and/or biochemical assays to characterize cell death, oxidative stress and inflammation markers in skin cells
  • Collect, record and interpret data, and draw sound scientific conclusions based on analysed data
  • Present your findings to senior management and peers

The ideal candidate should have:

  • Background and interest in Molecular, Cell Biology or Life Sciences
  • Love for laboratory and project work
  • Benchwork research experience (hands-on experience in culturing mammalian cells is preferred)
  • Results-oriented, able to take initiative and has strong follow-up skills
  • Outgoing personality, high energy, strong communication skills
