Company Profile

We began our work by developing and funding programmes for underprivileged children in the charity sector (https://cares.edis.sg).  Since 2014, we have developed and implemented in phases an intervention-based literacy and numeracy programme to level up preschoolers who lack foundational skills for their age-group. We aim to help them start on closer-to-equal footing as their peers.

We spun out as a company, Learning Vessels LLP (https://www.learningvessels.com), and are now looking at ways to provide the same programmes and services to fee-paying clients.  We have recently been awarded a grant under the Philip Yeo Initiative (https://enterprise.nus.edu.sg/entrepreneurship-initiatives/philip-yeo-initiative) and we are keen to MAD (Make A Difference) for children with learning challenges from a range of backgrounds.

Job Description

The Opportunity

This internship will likely interest you if you are pursuing a diploma or degree in early childhood education, or in marketing and commerce.

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Training or an avid interest in early childhood education or special education
  • Experience in web development, social media marketing and graphic design (vector illustrations) - this will be a big plus
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Flexibility yet a keen eye for details
  • The ability to work independently without someone breathing down their necks
  • A desire not to be desk bound all the time, and to do a wide range of things
  • A sense of humor and an understanding that all children are different

The Task

  • Participate in the development and production of new educational materials
  • Support our marketing efforts by creating content for and updating our corporate website and our social media accounts. Help to create more awareness of our company and efforts.
  • Conduct small market surveys and analyze the results to help us better define our products, services and the ways to approach our clients
  • Support workshops for children and parents

Opportunity To Learn

  • This internship experience offers the opportunity to learn about teaching methods for children with learning difficulties. Our programme is highly multi-sensory, and you will be involved in helping with the development and production of these materials together with staff who are trained in educational therapy. You will also learn project management as we expand and roll out our programme to new sites to support more children.
  • This is also an opportunity for you to learn about social entrepreneurship by experiencing it. Last but not least, your contribution will make a difference to children who need every bit of help and encouragement they can get to learn.
