Illuminating Asia SG Pte Ltd – Marketing Communications Intern

IASPL seeks a marketing intern that would minimum stay for 3-6 months, with preference for a longer stay. The intern can come in at anytime within the calendar year, to suit internship practice requirements within major schools.

Students from business, marketing, design, arts & social sciences, social media, mass communications, are welcome to apply. Students from other disciplines can also apply if it fits the academic requirements of schools.

All interns would be interviewed before being offered an internship.

Service Roles:

The exact nature of work during internship would depend on the strengths and inclinations of

the particular intern, as well as operational requirements at that moment, and thus impossible to specify. However, based on past experience, interns would be asked to perform the following:

Business As Usual Tasks

● Shoot video footage with phones and cameras

● Shoot still photos with phones and cameras

● Create social media content

● Run Facebook/ Adwords campaigns

● Write copy for brochures and booklets

● Clean marketing lists and databases

● Update corporate website content on wordpress

● Fact check and internet research

● Study requirements for entry into international lighting competitions

● Research competitors’ products and prices on e-commerce sites such as Lazada and Ali.

Higher Order Marketing Projects

Depending on the intern’s individual maturity and capability, higher order marketing projects may be assigned. These projects would be supervised by the marketing director. We can also arrange one of these projects to be a capstone or internship project.

● Create case studies of completed client lighting projects

● Shoot and edit one entire client delivery lighting video

● Design and edit a lighting products catalog for off-set printing

● Professionally photographing an entire suite of lighting products for use in catalogs and online

● Create video vines and short clips of IASPL products for social media use

● Bring a product/product line to market with an entire suite of supporting collateral:

microsite, lazada products page, e-mail marketing content, facebook marketing, adwords.

“Making Coffee & Photocopying Tasks

At IASPL, we have an egalitarian culture and everyone makes their own coffee and copies, and submit their own claims. So rest assured that the intern will not be asked to do tasks such as these.

However, we need to manage interns’ expectations in that there might be a fair bit of admin or legwork that the intern would be required to perform. These tasks are part and parcel of the learning process.

Examples of such tasks include the following:

● Price checks and internet fact check

● Travelling to locations within Singapore to collect cheques or engineering samples

● Cleaning excel spreadsheets

● Travelling at short notices to take photos and footage

● Writing minutes of meetings

Supervisor:

The internship supervisor is a 20-year marketing veteran who will always coach interns to think strategically while setting practical performance benchmarks and showing interns how to reach them. The supervisor will coach as much as the interns sincerity and commitment to learn.

Also, marketing intern will be working closely with the senior management team.

Skills Requirements:

Below are the skills requirements that would make it a mutually productive internship experience. It is not possible to possess all these skills - so let these skills list be a guide as to the type of candidate intern we are looking for. Internship suitability is always considered holistically and not based on any one or set of skills.

Basic Fluency In the Following:

Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and the Google document experience

Microsoft Office but especially Powerpoint. Simple Excel.

Basic fluency handling phones and cameras for footage and photographs.

Good To Have:

Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, Audition, InDesign, Open Broadcasting Software (OBS), Skills Handling Gimbals, Skills Flying Drones, Lighting Setup, Facebook Ad Manager, WordPress, MailChimp, Long Content Writing Skills, Interviewing Skills, Voice Over Talent Skills.
