Underwriting Intern *Urgent*


Underwriting Intern

The scope of your role will include but not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support in day-to-day operations including updating underwriting records
  • Provide support for administrative requirements
  • Maintain close rapport and relationship with internal & external stakeholders to obtain necessary underwriting information
  • Review endorsements on existing policies to identify any change in original coverage or amounts
  • Evaluate, accept, reject or modify risks within established underwriting guidelines
  • Proactively assist with managing a portfolio of risks as well as reviewing new risks
  • Assist claims team to attain effectiveness in the claims processes

Requirements:

Ideally, candidate should possess the following:

  • Preferably a background in the fields of Business (Risk Management & Insurance), Business Administration and Management, Accountancy, Finance, Economics, Applied Mathematical, Statistics, Art & Social Sciences, Real Estate, Engineering, Maritime Studies, or any equivalent studies
  • A proactive and fast learner
  • Has a flair for analytical skills
  • Solid Excel and Powerpoint proficiency
  • Possesses effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated with a drive for progression
  • Individual keen to develop into a versatile finance sector professional
  • Prior underwriting experience will be a plus but not a requirement

*Interns will be attached to participating host insurance companies and not GIA. Host company and more detailed JDs will be disclosed to you once shortlisted.
