Coconuts is an alternative online publisher reaching an audience of millions with fresh and juicy stories and videos. The Coconuts.co news and lifestyle website produces in-depth coverage of what’s happening in Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bali, Yangon, and beyond.
Coconuts TV is our video channel focused on the weird and wondrous untold stories of Asia. We release our videos to an international audience on Youtube, and also license and produce for broadcast channels and streaming platforms including Netflix, Discovery, and MTV.
Grove is our in-house brand studio focused on creating content and entertainment for brands including Hilton, Daimler, Citibank, Nutella, and Grab.
In September 2020, the Coconuts Media group acquired BK Magazine, Bangkok’s leading food and lifestyle bible, as well as up-and-coming Thai language culture website Soimilk.
We reach an average of 2 million unique visitors per month across the Coconuts, BK, and Soimilk websites.
We are searching for a driven and cheeky newbie content creator to produce video and non-video content for us. You should be a meme King/Queen, a vlogging fanboy/fangirl and plugged into topical trends. We're irreverent and want you to unleash our playful yet factual personality for our platforms.
Responsibilities
- Keep up with trends across social media and what the kids are talking about
- Be an organized self-starter who is hungry to learn and experiment
- Create social posts daily across Tik Tok, Instagram, Facebook and Clubhouse
- Be a punny and witty writer and presenter
- Work with producers and editors on video and non-video content
- Write and design static social posts and listicles when needed
- Be a commentator on trending topics and interact with fans, readers and viewers
Requirements
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Mass Communication, Journalism or a relevant field
- Basic video shooting and editing skills (Think tiktok videos or self shot vlogs)
- Basic knowledge of design software is a bonus (e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign etc.)
- Experience with a content management system is a bonus (e.g. WordPress)
- Proficiency in English with excellent writing and verbal skills
- Excellent time-management and organizational skills
