Roles & Responsibilities

  • Site Engineer / Supervisor - Primary Scope for Project Engineer.
  • Maintenance Technician - Primary Scope for Technician.
  • Technical Knowledge Development & Application.
  • Tendering Support - Secondary role for Engineer
  • Drafting & Modeling Support - Secondary scope for Technician

# Note: Maintenance and Servicing is a primary training scope for new engineers or technicians.

Skills

  • Strong Engineering Fundamentals Electrical & Mechanical).
  • Technology savvy – work scheduling platforms, spreadsheets, writing reports/memo, email, chat platforms and other productivity tools.
  • AutoCAD Drafting Skills.

  • Building codes – FIRE Code, SS645 (formerly CP10), SS553, Ashrae/SMACNA duct design, SS638(formerly CP05). - Good to Have

Project Supervision Scope

Objective: To be the go-to person for the project, the project engineer/technician should have their finger on the pulse of everything related to the project. 

1) Monitoring - Be the eyes, ears and mouth of the project.

  • Ensure instructions are carried out within the stipulated time frame.
  • Being the key personnel leading on the ground. You are expected to recommend ground-up initiatives to the team to boost project performance, client experience & company branding.
  • Ensure projects attain design requirements, on time, zero injuries and achieve zero abortive works. 
  • Check on materials, method of statements for installation and workmanship quality. Ensure everything is up to code/standards so that there will not be delays in approval.
  • Responsible for ordering supplies, obtaining permits, and scheduling subcontractors.
  • Prevents fines and interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.

2) Safety - Nobody wants accidents to happen, so construction Project Engineer/Technician should take safety seriously.

  • Follow best practices and governmental regulations regarding safety, and ensure the objective of zero injuries.
  • Inspect the work site for possible pitfalls, ensure good housekeeping, and schedule regular maintenance of equipment to ensure it functions correctly. Highlight safety pitfalls/dangers to Site Safety Officers.
  • Conduct weekly housekeeping inspection. Ensure materials, tools and equipment are stored, protected and labelled.

3) Informing - When questions arise, the team knows that they can turn to the construction project engineer/technician for answers. 

  • Write weekly/monthly reports on work activity and personnel. This information helps to keep all parties involved in the project in the loop and up to date.
  • Guide to sub-contractor works.
  • Record every nuance of the project relating to design, equipment and programming.

Maintenance & Supervision Scope

Objective: To be the go-to person for the project, the project engineer/technician should have their finger on the pulse of everything related to the project. 

#This will be a primary scope for all new members of the team during the training phase. 

  1. Monitoring System Performance - We want to maintain a tenable environment during a FIRE scenario.

  • Make sure the equipment and overall system performance can achieve the approved design requirements.
  • Be the key personnel leading on the ground. You are expected to recommend ground-up initiatives for the team to boost project performance, client experience & quality of work.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment on-site and ensuring they are fit for purpose.

2) Safety - Nobody wants accidents to happen.

  • Follow best practices and governmental regulations regarding safety, and they make sure workers and visitors wear protective gear. 
  • Inspect the site for possible pitfalls and Highlight pitfalls/dangers to Client/Owner.

3) Clients - Give clients ease of mind when working with us. 

  • Write weekly/monthly reports or memos on work activity and updates. This information helps to keep all parties involved in the project in the up to date.
  • To help clients keep track of critical events & abnormally such as false alarms, equipment failure frequency & root cause, etc… - Things that have a negative impact on the system performance.
  • Document & record the unique requirements of the project
  • Assist with the implementation of workflow optimization and explore ways to help clients solve teething problems.
  • Highlight existing inefficiencies & propose solutions to maintenance managers.

Objective: These are the other core scope of work that will reinforce your ability to perform as an engineer or technician.

  • Work hours: 5.5 Days work week
  • Salary Range: $1,850 to $4,100 - (Depending on skill sets & relevant experience)
  • Candidates may be required to go through a job/work trial. 
  • Work Address: Central North Or North-East Region.

Preferred Requirements

  • Diploma/Degree in Engineering field (Mechanical / Electrical / Building Services /Recognised equivalent qualification )
  • Preferably at least 1 year of working experience in the local building construction industry, in the mechanical/electrical field.
  • Certificates: Supervise Construction Work (SCW) - previously known as BCSS Work at height supervisor. Risk Management Implementation & Assessment under WSH
  • Fresh diploma/degree holders are welcome to apply. A bond of at least 2 years may apply.
