About the company

We have been around in this industry for more than 30 years, and have slowly gained our reputation for being a trusted distribution to our F&B customers. We have our own wet market stalls, as well as distributing fresh vegetables and fruits to our B2B customers daily.

This is a typical traditional Chinese family business, where the boss is the only boss and everyone reports to only the boss.

At the moment, we are in the phase of undergoing digital transformation and you will join and experience first-hand the benefits these changes will bring about. Transformation is no easy process, it will bring about its own set of challenges, but I am sure in it we will also see fresh and exciting new opportunities for growth.

Job Description

usiness Development and Process Intern (3mths Internship @ 1.2k / Month, Option to Retain as Permanent Part-time)

After 3 months internship, if company sees potential in individual, opportunity to retain intern and continue employment with us on a permanent part-time basis, whilst continuing his/her studies (minimum commitment level needs to be 30hrs/week)

Basic (and Odd!) Job requirements & Expectations

(ONLY PROCEED W THIS APPLICATION IF YOU UNDERSTAND BELOW EXPECTATIONS)

  • Able to write neat and legible Chinese
  • Able to communicate in fluent Chinese and English (my sincere apologies to Non-Chinese speaking applicants. Such is the nature of this industry. )
  • Basic computer knowledge
  • Detail-oriented and not forgetful. You do not really need to be reminded umpteen times if you are really focused about your work!
  • Team-players only! We complete all work as a team.
  • Not judgy (you will be faced with working alongside employees from different countries, backgrounds, skill levels). Locals and foreign workers are treated alike.
  • Pro-active and self-initiated individuals. Ask what needs to be done, and not wait for people to come to you.
  • Restrict use of personal phone to a minimum. You shouldn’t even have much time to play with your phone. If you have, you are probably not working hard enough.
  • Easy-going personalities preferred. For ladies, high heels, tight clothing, thick make-up not required. If you need to put on your jewellery and heavy make-up daily, then this job is not for you. Work attire that’s the norm around here is simply T-shirts, shorts and covered shoes becoz it’s dirty and muddy on the ground floor!)

What else to expect (so as to manage your expectations):

  • We are about 10 – 15mins’ walk away from Haw Par Villa mrt station. The location is Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre (where auction and trading of dry goods, fresh vegetables and fresh fruits takes place on a daily basis)
  • This place is not glamorous like the CBD. The people walking around are your average Joes, and not your white-collar folks. It’s simple, uncomplicated, where most people slog hard to earn the day’s wage to bring home (that is, for the forklift drivers, unloading packers etc)
  • Our boss (aka my dad) has a hot temper (he’s infamous in this industry for being the strict, no-nonsense man around). Our company is well-known as a “training camp” to groom all-rounders who go on to bigger and better opportunities to related fields. So if you think you cannot handle someone with a foul temper, please do not join.
  • We are a pretty lean operation, so you will be expected to cross-train and assist with other tasks (example doing administrative tasks, goods receiving etc). For those who aren’t interested to learn more, know more, do more, please do not join too.
